The Aristocrat Hotel
1933 Main - 1925 (NR, RTHL, D)
This 14 story building was the second hotel in Conrad Hilton's chain,
but the first to actually bear his name. (His first hotel was the
Mobley Hotel in Cisco, Texas.) After Hilton stopped operating the
hotel, it was renamed the White Plaza Hotel in 1938. From 1977 until
1985, it was known as the
Plaza Hotel. The building has a two story base with a U-shaped tower
rising out of it. This is one of the few structures where the light
well is turned toward the street. There are 172 guest rooms within the facility,
most of which are suites. Although the name is the Aristocrat Hotel,
it is managed by Holiday Inn. |
