Thanksgiving Tower
1601 Elm - 1982
This 50 story all glass skyscraper faces into Thanksgiving
Square. The architects for the building were HKS of Dallas.
The building is rectangular in plan with notched corners. It bears a
striking resemblance to the IDS Center in Minneapolis and was one of a
series of skyscrapers constructed in Dallas in the early 1980's with
notched corners. The glass is silver blue and the building often
gives striking reflections of partly cloudy skies. At night, blue
neon runs along the top of the building. Thanksgiving Tower is 645
feet high and is the 8th tallest building in Dallas. |
