Union Station

400 S. Houston St. - 1916 (NR, RTHL, D)

Built in 1926 and designed in the Beaux Arts style, this station consolidated all of the rail lines in Dallas into one terminal.  It was designed by Jarvis Hunt.  The building is clad in white brick with stone columns and detailing.  The main feature of the building is the second floor main waiting room that is two stories in height.  This room is now rented out for private parties and receptions.  The building is used as a passenger rail station for Amtrak, the Dallas station for the Trinity Railway Express commuter line, and a DART light rail station.  The building faces Ferris Plaza, a one square block city park.
